Youth & Adult Ministry
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)
Nursery for infants and younger children is available from 9:30am through the end of the worship hour every Sunday morning. Mrs. Shirley Crutcher is our Nursery teacher. She is a professional early childhood teacher, mother of two grown daughters and grandmother of four. A structured activity, light snack and a very T.L.E. (tender, loving environment) is provided for our little ones. The Nursery is located on the ground floor of the Educational Wing and has a self-contained restroom.
Sunday School for school age children is held upstairs in the purple room of the education wing. We are currently using the Re:form curriculum, which focuses on helping children and youth to develop working theologies of their own. Rather than attempting to encourage dogma or doctrine, it aims to teach kids how to think theologically, how to ask questions, and how to answer their own questions together. All children and youth above age 5 are welcome!

Purpose: The purpose of the Adult Sunday School class is to foster spiritual growth and develop better understanding of how a follower of Christ should live in the modern world.
Resources:
- We always use the Bible as the core resource for our study and discussion.
- We also draw on a wide range of other resources, including bible commentaries, devotional materials, scholarly research and unorthodox perspectives.
- Our class includes people with a wide diversity of
backgrounds, knowledge and perspectives. Much of the knowledge and
insights in the class comes from members of the class
Topics - sample:
We typically study books of the Bible. However, as we do so, we address
(often in detail) a wide range of questions and issues relevant to
Christians today, such as
- What are the core Christian beliefs? Is the list long or short?
- How do Christian beliefs relate to living a Christian life?
- Is there a Christian perspective on different social issues? If so, what is it?
- Are science and religion compatible or in fundamental conflict?
- What is the role of the Bible in a Christian life today? How should we read, understand and use the Bible today?
- How should Christians view and act toward other religions?
- Just what is Christian love? How can we live filled with Christian love?
- What is the role of the church in society today? What
should it be?
Format and Nature of Class:
- Combination of lecture and facilitated discussion.
- Highly interactive.
- Fun and humor are important; love and respect for one another are essential.
- Different perspectives, controversy and debate are encouraged – as part of the ongoing search for truth and understanding among brothers and sisters in Christ who love and respect another.
