What to Expect

Do I have to be a member to participate or a Presbyterian to join?
All persons are welcome to participate in the life and worship of this church. Most of our current membership came from other denominational backgrounds. So in a sense we might say that most of our members were not “born Presbyterians” but “chose Presbyterianism.” We would encourage seekers to visit, to get involved through volunteer service and learning opportunities before making a membership commitment.

For ways to become involved beyond Sunday morning worship, check out Ways To Serve on our Connect page.

Do I have to be a member to take Communion?
No. Presbyterians acknowledge that the communion table and elements belong to God, not to the church.  When we take communion, as we do on the first Sunday of each month, we are united with the church in every place, join with all the faithful in offering thanksgiving to the triune God, renew the vows taken at baptism and commit ourselves afresh to love and serve God, one another and our neighbors in the world.

Visiting With Children

To the parents of young children, may we suggest…

Relax! God put the wiggle in children; we hope you’ll learn to celebrate that in God’s house. Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Mark 10:14) We think that Jesus was on to something!

You may want to consider sitting closer to the front where little ones can see and hear what’s going on up front. They tire of seeing the backs of others’ heads. Try whispering to explain the service and what worship leaders are doing.  Encourage them to participate.

Nursery for infants and younger children is available from 9:30 a.m. through the end of the worship hour every Sunday morning with Ms. Shirley in the nursery. She provides structured activity, a light snack and a T.L.E. (tender, loving environment) for our little ones.  The Nursery is located on the ground floor of the Educational Wing and has a self-contained restroom.

Sunday School for school age children is from 9:45-10:30 a.m. and meets upstairs in the Educational Wing.

Please accompany your children whenever they enter/exit the sanctuary. Kids’ activity bags and bulletins are also available at the back of the sanctuary on the table.
